I hit a milestone yesterday….
Yesterday was the first day that I hit over $5 in AdSense revenue. I’ve been edging closer and closer and yesterday I hit it, actually I killed it. ($6.84)
Yes I know, it’s not enough to live on, but I’m starting to see some return on my time and money investment.
I have also been experimenting with some other ad networks, I’ll talk more about them soon, and I really do mean it. I’ll write up all these things I have been up to.
I’ve gone and got myself another new site, only this time I’m not starting from scratch, I bought it.
The site doesn’t currently generate much revenue, but it has good traffic with lots of potential. It’s not a blog, but has a blog related function.
This morning I have been hard at work deciding on the best way to attract traffic to my site.
On a whim I decided to sign up for Google AdWords and see what it would cost me to get some paid traffic in.
Allowing them to set the CPC on my favoured keywords resulted in a daily estimate of several hundred dollars for only around 40 clicks a day.
That is a huge amount of cash so it is definately out as a way of drawing traffic to my site, but it does have an upside, it proves that I was correct with my calculations about this niche possibly being a highly profitable niche to get into.
The blog I am aiming to make most of my income from has opened. I’ve gotten some content up in it, and have started the process of getting it noticed.
Interestingly enough, except for the main page the AdSense targetting was spot on. Archives and Full story pages had almost perfect targetting. For some reason my main (home) pages rarely do.
I’ll really have to look into that some more.
This site has been a bit quiet over the last couple of days. I’m not giving up, I have just been extremely busy setting things up and also working on an idea I have that should make a massive improvement to the click thru rate that people receive.
I’m currenty testing this idea elsewhere, and once I know the results I’ll fill you all in on how to do it (assuming it works).
This morning I spent a couple of hours setting up the software to drive my project, then I spent a bit more time working out the modifications needed to make it do what I want.
Should be pretty easy to achieve the required results, I have it all mapped out in my head already.
I purchased another site today.
This wasn’t in my plan, but a niche market forum that I was a regular on got pulled by the sponsor and I decided to resurrect it.
It will be interesting to see if I can manage to generate some income from it. I’m not particularly concerned in this case as I am more interested in the community.
I submitted this site to Google Sitemaps last night, within 1 hour google had come and grabbed my sitemap.
I just checked and as yet Google hasn’t indexed my site, I’ll let you all know when it finally does.
Hi, my name is Drew and about 6 months ago I became unemployed when the section of the Company I had worked at for the last 6 years was closed down.
I live in a small City called Dunedin which is on the South Island of New Zealand, we came here as a lifestyle choice and we are not that interested in moving to the big smoke.
I have applied for a few jobs around town, but so far I have had not had a positive outcome from any of them. On July 17 a story on slashdot caught my eye about a guy making a good living from blogging, problogger.net, I’d recently started blogging and thought it might be worth a try.
So after having a bit of a think about it, I decided to go for it.
