This is an update to Hundreds of new MySpace Friends.
I’ve been on FriendStorm in paid mode now for about 6 hours, my pending friends request queue has 1576 requests in it. I have done nothing else during that time on that profile with regard to sending out friend requests.
The account had 5,437 friends before this started, and I have decided not to do any other friend seeking during the month to see how many FriendStorm actually brings in.
I’m starting to get an idea about a Professional MySpace Marketing Service, I’ll need to ponder on it some more as I approve all these requests.
So on one of my “Generic” profiles I have been using a number of tools to build my friend count. One of them I purchased after I wrote my column on the tools on my pc, which I must update and tell you about.
Another one is an online tool which I am yet to talk about, it has 2 modes, unpaid and paid, until now I have been using it in unpaid mode, but I decided to give paid mode a go, so I subscribed for a month.
The challenge is about to begin. This is not intended to be a quick process, it could take a considerable amount of time to build up a reasonable friend count.
The first phase is to increase my friends list to a reasonable number in the topic I’m interested in. I will end up with people who aren’t interested, but that will be because they have requested to be friends rather than me requesting them.
I won’t be seeking out anyone who is not interested in the subject matter, which for this test is the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP).
Yesterday I opened a new MySpace site, I wasn’t planning too, but I came across a fantastic script and so I thought I would invest in a copy.
Then I decided I’d see how long it took to make it’s money back, so I set it up under a new domain name.
So that Stats are:
Cost of Script: $147.00
Cost of Domain Name: $7.20
Cost of Hosting: $0.00 (Just another site on my Server)
Total Cost: $154.20
Release Date: 19th June 2006 (By my Server, 20th for me)
Over at DP there have been a bunch of threads talking about marketing on MySpace, I’ve decided to run a little experiment to see what results can be achieved.
The profile I am going to use currently has four friends, the first stage of the experiment will be to get as many friends as possible in a particular vertical market. The next stage will be attempting to market my product/service to them.
Vertical Market: PSP (Playstation Portable)
Desired Outcome #1: More people using WinPSPortal
Desired Outcome #2: More people using my PSP Forum.
Desired Outcome #3: More Income.
I didn’t make this one, it was just too good to pass up.
So I bought another anonymous proxy site, $100, PR5, reasonable traffic, good domain name. I haven’t done anything with it yet. It’s not been in my posession for 24 hours as yet and it has already made about a buck.
Some of the traffic is lacking for the site too, the DNS hasn’t fully updated yet, so some places are still seeing the old site.
I’m figuring I can probably ramp this site up enough to get the cost back within 6 weeks.
I was cruising around sites the other day and I came across www-one-dollar-a-day.com, it’s not a bad site either, well worth a read.
While I was there I discovered that the owner of that site has a MySpace bulletin generator for sale. I’d been meaning to code one of these for a while, but lack of time meant I never got to it. The script was only $20, so I thought I may as well just buy it.
I would of been better off coding it myself, the script as delivered doesn’t work, it’s my own fault I should of checked before buying.
Cesar over at fleethecube reports that he has had some success at Domaining (buying the right names and parking them at a site that pays (CPC) for the traffic that arrives via them).
Cesar mentioned that he has some poorly performing domains that he will probably allow to expire. To me these domains could be a profit centre, so if anyone has a bunch of domain names that aren’t performing and they are willing to sell them instead of letting them expire then let me know!
I did some AdSense research a little while back and decided to throw a MySpace resource site up, I did it real quick and it definately needs a lot of work, I just don’t have the time to work on it a lot at the moment. Anyhow if your interested, you can visit it, My Space Resource Site.
About a year ago I aquired the domain name GodThatsFunny.com with the intention of putting up a funny video/picture site, it just sat there doing nothing, and then recently I aquired a license to use a funny video/picture script as part of another deal, so My Funny Video/Image Site went online.
On my main work computer I use Firefox as a browser, additionally I have all of the following plugins loaded.
- Adsense Notifier - Monitors My Earnings
- SearchStatus - Displays Google PR and Alex Ranking
- Clippings - An extended clipboard, great for often used items
- HTML Validator - Check my HTML
- Hypertext DOM Browser - Browse through the DOM of a webpage
- IE Tab - IE inside of Firefox
- MeasureIT - Lets me measure the size of something on screen
- User Agent Switcher - Fake the browser User Agent to websites
