The hardest site you will ever publish

People sometimes ask me how I manage to publish so many websites (currently I have 17 I think) and then manage to get people to visit them.

Publishing the sites is easy, the hard part is getting traffic to them.

The hardest site you will ever build as a web publisher is the very first one you publish. The reason that it is the hardest is because you have no existing sites to leverage traffic from.

Once you have managed to get your first site getting a decent amount of traffic (and income), what you need to do next is start working on your second site.

This site should be something the visitors your first site would be interested in, but it shouldn’t be about the same exact topic. As your publish more and more sites in related niches leveraging your existing traffic becomes easier.

At some point the mere act of deploying a site and linking to it from your existing sites should be enough to get a good SE ranking and plenty of visitors.

Of course, you need traffic to your first site….

I totally agree with you. I launch a new site every few days sometimes, but then I will just leave it with some content for a few months before going back and actually carrying on with the project.

I find that this approach helps for getting a good rank in the search engines and as such helps get traffic. Couple that with link from my other sites including my http://blog.brightonvibes.com website where I talk about my project sites (like you) and you can really see how correct you are in the sense that, your first site is the hardest.

And this is not just because of traffic, but also because of the time and effort it may take you to learn things. But as usual, its easy when you know how, and the more you learn the more you earn :)

Keep up the great blog, it’s a regular read and I am just stuffing a link to you in my links section over at brighton vibes :)

    Dave
