Earning $65 an hour and I quit the job

About a month ago I picked up an ongoing contract that was paying me $65 an hour for a reasonable number of hours a week but not fulltime.

Last week I rang the owner of the Company I was doing this work for and requested that they find someone else to do the work as I was not going to be able to continue.

I wanted out of that work because I needed more time for my online ventures, it might sound crazy as the amount of money being earned on that contract easily exceeded my website based income.

So what was my reasoning, I looked at my long term aim and realised that by giving up some dollars now I would be able to earn far more in the long term, and have more fun doing it. (Not to mention being free!)

Would you do the same, or would you take the $65 an hour?

Right now, I would take the $65 an hour, because I do not have enough of a foundation to build upon and support myself in my personal ventures yet.

I would probably take the $65 an hour for the same reason as Blaine.
However, with the amount you are earning from and the time you have been involved with your online ventures - I would recommend going with the ventures full time.

It depends. If I was you, I would have canceled the contract. You do already have a foundation to build apon.

Pretty much the reason I quit my crappy $7/hr part time job. I found a way to buy and sell video games and make money. I’m not making much, but it is more than I was makin at my old job.

If I was making enough online to survive, the $65 would be gone. I agree with you. Especially if I wasn’t enjoying it. Great post, I just started poking around here and really like it.
